Jessica Ridgeway Murder

Defense makes requests on behalf of acussed killer of Colo. girl

Austin Reed Sigg mugshot / AP - Westminster Police DepartmentGOLDEN, Colo. (AP) – Defense attorneys for a teen accused of kidnapping and killing a suburban Denver girl contend he was improperly questioned by police.

The lawyers made the assertion during a hearing Friday. They said police failed to get a verbal consent from the mother of Austin Sigg that he was waiving his rights.

Sigg was 17 at the time of his arrest. He is accused of killing 10-year-old Jessica Ridgeway of Westminster last year and attacking a jogger before that.

Siggs’ lawyers also want to move his trial. They argue the intense coverage of Jessica’s kidnapping and death makes it impossible for Sigg to receive a fair trial in Jefferson County. They have also asked to close proceedings to the public.

Judge Stephen Munsinger has not ruled on any of the requests.

Your title says “acussed” instead of “accused” killer. I kind of like the word acussed. It has a completely different feel it.
