Domestic violence expert testifies in Arias trial
PHOENIX (AP) – Testimony in Jodi Arias’ murder trial has concluded for the day as the judge reviewed a motion by defense attorneys claiming prosecutorial misconduct.
A domestic violence expert had been testifying about how Arias was vulnerable at the time she met the victim and had a hard time declining his sexual advances.
But the trial veered off track as defense attorneys argued prosecutor Juan Martinez’ actions outside court posing for pictures with fans and signing autographs amounted to misconduct.
Arias faces a possible death sentence if convicted of first-degree murder in the 2008 killing of Travis Alexander in his suburban Phoenix home.
Authorities say she planned the attack on her lover in a jealous rage. Arias initially told authorities she had nothing to do with it then said it was self-defense.
