New Pre-Trial Hearing Date Set for Luka Magnotta
A pre-trial hearing to plan for the first-degree murder trial of Luka Magnotta was continued to Nov. 13 so the trial judge could preside over the hearing, according to a report in the Montreal Gazette.
Neither Magnotta nor his attorney Luc Leclair were present at the hearing in Quebec Superior Court on Wednesday morning.
Magnotta is charged with five counts including murder in the first degree for the May 2012 killing and dismemberment of 33-year-old Chinese international student Jun Lin.
The former porn actor and model is also charged with defiling a corpse, using the Canadian mail system for delivering “obscene, indecent, immoral or scurrilous” material, and criminally harassing Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, as well as other government leaders.
Magnotta’s murder trial is scheduled to begin Sept. 15, 2014.
