HeidiR says:

Just an FYI – after I posted my first comment with first name only, I became aware there’s another Heidi on this site. So as not to confuse anyone I added the “R”

HeidiR says:

Are they just in recess at this time> I’m from the states & don’t understand their time zones.

Heidi says:

Are they just at recess right now? I live in the states, I’m not familiar with their time zones.

ozinnz says:

Notice none of the other residents went for their guns when they heard was sounded like very dangerous threats in their neighbourhood!!

ozinnz says:

correction: “what” not “was”

L. Gill says:

Actually he did not testify today – I posted this earlier but had not heard any resonse- so was posting it again. He went through his series of steps leading up to him pointing the gun and shooting- and he would have been in the bathroom by the time she would have flushed and would have heard it. Why don’t they mention this at all?

ozinnz says:

OP says he heard the bathroom window open. It wasn’t long after that he was screaming out so perhaps Reeva locked herself in the toilet to hide from the
“intruders”. Which could be also why she didn’t call out to let him know it was her in the toilet, because she didn’t know where these intruders where and didn’t want to
make her presence known. Just a thought……

L. Gill says:

Was the contents of the toilet tested for urine and toilet tissue? Oscar testified that she had went to empty her bladder and had time to put her pants back on- but he did not testify to hearing the toilet flushing. Wouldn’t she have flushed the toilet after she went and wouldn’t that have been heard? Since he did not testify that he heard the toilet flushing, one would expect there to still be the contents of her bladder in the toilet since the medical examiner had said her bladder was found empty. If indeed her bladder was empty, but there was no urine in the toilet or toilet tissue found along with the blood that was found- that would mean she had been up and had emptied her bladder before this incident ever happened. He testified today that in his version she had time to open the window, go and use the toilet, and then get her clothes on- before he gunned her down. He never mentioned hearing the toilet flush.

HeidiR says:

I hadn’t thought of that one. Very interested analysis.

Rocky says:

I think Reeva was caught calling her other boyfriend and OP just killed her.. . He needs to live in prison for life…

Rocky says:

AND – The first thing I do when I think someone else is in my house is to see my target before I shoot them dead ……

L. Gill says:

Doesn’t the prosecution have all the cell phone records for both Reeva and OP? I don’t think there is any reference to calls that were made from her phone or to her phone during the time she was at OP’s house. It is a mystery as to how he could have gotten so enraged as to kill her through a closed bathroom door. Only theory I can think of is that she could have possibly confronted him about the porn sites he had visited on his ipod that night and it escalated from there. What I really don’t get is why the prosecuting attorney did not question Oscar at all about his looking at the porn sites or ask whether Reeva was aware of him doing so while she was there that night. Would have liked to have heard his response.

ozinnz says:

Reeva’s phone had not been used according to the evidence.

crystel says:

Unreal, the reason OP gave for Reeva having her phone with her. She used it as a flashlight!!!! He was up and at the window bringing in fans so there would be absolutely no need for this. She would have simply switched on the light. Does he really expect this to be believed.

cam says:

I never turn on the light at night, ever!

Susan says:

Do you have electricity where you stay?

Berylann Stanton says:

Yes I thought that as well but on asking a friend she says she uses her phone to go to the toilet so not to wake her partner !

Pechilvr says:

Lol i just got up to use the bathroom and checked into site and saw on my cell phone this post while navigating the dark with my cell phone / flashlight feature on my iphone

Ndidi says:

To me it is so very strange that the toilet door was locked! With my boyfriend I don’t even shut the door as I go to toilet (unless we have visitors).

RahRahoohLaLa says:

I totally agree…c’mon..who locks the loo in the middle of the night when with boyfriend?
it’s the ability to weep, vomit and speak in a hysterical traumatised voice…He is So convinced He can swing the jury and y’know He probably will. Oscar is all about winning

Susan says:

This is a sickness called Oscarpistosis. I have it and is afraid to go to the bathroom at my boyfriend’s house.

ozinnz says:

When OP went to sleep he said he asked Reeva to close the doors and bring the fan in when she went to sleep. He was tired but she was still either surfing the net or watching TV and wasn’t ready to sleep. He then said that when he awoke later she hadn’t closed the doors. That was when he went ahead and did it. Did he get angry with her because she hadn’t done it? Is that how the argument started?

Hannes Brits says:

I was just wondering. Oscar says the duvet was on the bed. Nel says it was on the floor, because there were blood stains on the duvet in line with the blood spatters on the carpet.
Is there any evidence that the blood spatter trail on the carpets did not continue on the carpet underneath the duvet ?

Julie says:

Very interesting and smart conversation going on here. I too wonder why no one is asking about the toilet, and also the prosecutor needs to give a motive, as you all are saying, I still don’t see one

Allen says:

Motive is not necessary to prove murder. In some cases it helps as circumstantial evidence, but the mantra of motive, means, and opportunity is a Hollywood invention. Often authorities don’t know the motive. In this case it could be simple rage. He was probably genuinely sorry after shooting her, but his team is not arguing diminished capacity.

luci says:

Contrary to what Mr. Roux suggests, I do not feel that Reeva’s card shows that SHE was loved when she went to sleep that fateful night. It only serves to show that she loved HIM, which we already knew via her numerous texts to OP where she constantly talks about how hard she was working to please him in the relationship. We don’t, however, know whether OP loved her. Further, we don’t know that she actually gave him the card that particular night. She could have given him the card days prior before everything went so awry that night. And, besides, what did HE give Reeva for Valentine’s Day?

Lavn says:

Nothing no gift, that’s how selfish he is. He didn’t even open the card until after the events of the night. All the card shows is that she loved or hD deep feelings for him, but he didn’t even give her a Valentine days gift. He had nothing there for her, unless you count arguments, fighting and a gun.
He’s as guilty as sin and his lieing on the witness stand was awful. He can’t he keep his lies straight.
Now Nel is even tearing Oscars expert witness apart, the expert hasn’t even been accredited since 2011 or 2012.
Notice how Oscar perked up when Nel started asking the expert questions on the test, but when the expert was answering Roux Oscar has his hand in his ears.
Oscar is pure evil, he killed Reeva in cold blood. IMO I hope they send him away for a long, long time.

ozinnz says:

Poor Dixon. Nel has done a good job of stripping him of any authenticity.

crystel says:

It amazes me how much OP did after he supposedly closed the balcony door and the drapes, leaving the room in pitch darkness. He then heard the noise (did not assume as I would that maybe Reeva had gone to the toilet); went to the bed and got his gun; cocked it and went down the hall to the bathroom. All this in absolute blackness. Never stumbled against anything or had to feel his way. Tremendous night vision.

Also, he has made sure on quite a few occasions that he mentions about the objects in the photographs being moved. I have wondered if the moving was actually done by himself or someone close to him.

And he has had a year to work on his ‘version’. His memory and attention to a lot of the details shows how rehearsed he is. When he stumbles with his version we get the tears.

And now I suppose the defense team will bring in the paid experts who would say that the World is flat for a fee. And the video they have of him screaming should not be allowed and I hope it is not. How fake is that. Hey OP scream into the camera as high as you can – even higher if possible. Dreadful.

luci says:

We should really pray that he does not get away with this heinous crime.

L. Gill says:

Did the prosecution ever come up with a motive for murder? They mentioned arguing, but I have not heard of what their theory is on what they were arguing about to get him so frustrated as to shoot through the door. I find it interesting that two cellphones were found inside the bathroom, one hers and one his (under the bloody towel) and yet they never spoke of the theory that she might have had his cell phone and hers with her in the bathroom- to see what he was up to, and when she wouldn’t come out, he got his gun and shot the door. Or did they never have a theory at all? Also, since it came out that he was looking at porn sites on his iPad that night- why didn’t they question him about that and whether or not this was something Reeva was aware of? Seems like she might have gotten a little annoyed at him for doing that while she was there- just a guess. But I don’t remember the prosecutor questioning him about this. Surely, they should paint a picture of why Oscar would have been so enraged as to get his gun and shoot at the door knowing she was inside it, but they haven’t given any kind of theory as far as I’ve heard. Maybe I missed something?

luci says:

I agree re: 2 cellphones–hers and his–If he was watching or searching for porno on Valentine’s Day, it makes sense that she may have snatched it from him and that she would be trying to leave rather than endure his disrespect. I don’t understand why they did not question him about the porno or about why she had his cell phone in the toilet with her.

Dutchie says:

Here the v-cart Reeva send to oscar ;-) http://t.co/GGE6v3sGum.

GiGi says:

You are an ass.

PAPoster says:

Pistorius is an habitual liar and an extreme narcissist, he reminds me of Jodi Arias. They have an answer for everything and take responsibility for nothing.

Scarlett says:

I agree, completely. His attitude on the stand is exactly like Arias…..I’m smarter than the prosecution and can talk my way out of this.

Don Osborne says:

So, Kathleen W and Kathleen G, you really believe that Pistorious thought there was an intruder in the toilet? In similar circumstances would you? What would an intruder head into the toilet for? Please!!
This man is a total liar.

PAPoster says:

Exactly!

Susan says:

Don’t agree. The intruder maybe came in because he needed the toilet. That is why he locked the door. Hello!!!

Dutchie says:

I was wondering why didn’t Reeva ( she did every single night when she was going to bed ) texted her best friend to wish her goodnight?? And did O.P knows that Reeva saw her old boyfriend a couple of days before …Could they have an argument over that ??? Keeps popping up in my head……Just toughts !!!

KATHLEEN W says:

Finally the boring, laborius cross examination by Mr Nel is finished. He made no case except for little details that no one who had been in the situation OP was in could possibly remember. Now we can get on with the real evidence and defense witnesses which will prove that OP never knew she was in the toilet, nor did he intend to kill Reeva!

kathleen ,T says:

how have you found m not guilty Kathleen , what about neighbours quite a few say they heard screams but he said they did not so he is lying and that’s why he should not get with murder no matter who he is

PAPoster says:

There’s always some desperate female willing to defend a murderer or rapist or pedophile…in the hopes of finally finding someone who can bear to be with such a loathsome individual as herself.

KATHLEEN G says:

There is no proof that OP and Reeva were having a fight that night, and no proof that Reeva was screaming. OP’s 2 closest neighbors, said they didn’t hear a fight or screaming. So why didn’t the ridiculous Mr Nil put those 2 closest neighbors on the stand?
Because they would prove that what he says happened, never happened. !!!!
Just wait and see when they testify, and all of you people who are so sure Op meant to harm or kill Reeva and believers in Mr Nil will see that he made it all up just to get OP. He did kill her but it was not intentional, the judge will say.

kathleen ,T says:

oh please he did murder her why would you say he didn’t and mr nell is looking for justice for that poor young woman

Luci says:

What happened to lovemaking and gifts on Valentine’s Day? Does anybody know what OP gave Reeva?

Cynthia Mason says:

He gave her lead to the head. She gave him candy in the shape of a heart. . This guy is so guilty. Reeva took her cell phone and ran into the bathroom to get away from him.

Luci says:

lol–I pray for justice for Reeva

Jacqueline says:

I was thinking exactly the same thing…We girls are used to romance, flowers, cocktails, nice dinner, candles and lots of love with intimate lovemaking. There has been no mention of anything special about February 14. It was all about Oscar. Oscar eating at a certain time, sleeping or not sleeping at a certain time, being completely in control of his latest conquest. He is a selfish, lying pig and I pray that the Judge sees the truth about this narcissistic gun thug who….LOVES TO ARGUE! He is sparring with Gerrie Nels for Chrissakes! I see his temper flaring and this is what sweet Reeva encountered with him. That is why she flung her jeans and grabbed her phone and ran to the bathroom, locking the door. She was DONE with this one sided, double standard relationship.

Luci says:

Plus, she was fully dressed with 2 cell phones in bathroom with her–Sounds like she was trying to leave

Eugenia says:

What did he give her? An early and violent death.

Ramona Johns says:

Right–So sad–I just hope he doesn’t get away with it. A blind person can see through his lies

ozinnz says:

But they haven’t managed to prove he was telling lies.
He has had an answer for everything.
If only the witnesses had given similar evidence of the voices and screaming, but unfortunately they were all different with some saying they heard a woman screaming after Reeva would have been incapable of doing so, with some only hearing a male.

ozinnz says:

OP did get Reeva something for Valentines Day. I recall him saying what it was but I don’t recall what it was. They gave the gifts to each other on the evening of 13th but neither opened them – they left them for the following day. I am pretty sure it was discussed on the first day of the Defence’s presentation – Monday 14th.

ozinnz says:

Sorry I was wrong — what he said (Day 17 Part 1) was that he had ordered a bracelet for her a while ago and they were going to pick that up sometime but they had agreed not to make a fuss about Valentine’s Day. So yes, you are right, he didn’t get her anything.

Luci says:

I believe he heard And saw a window open because it was Reeva who opened it when she raised it so that neighbors could hear the scary things he was saying to her. I think that is why she had her cell phone with her–Oscar had brought his paranoia to a new level. I also believe he heard a door slam when Reeva slammed it as she ran in with to lock and hide away from his crazy ass.

Dutchie says:

I agree with you….He’s lying about almost everything..I don’t believe his version of the story.

Heli says:

No one can know what is in the mind of another person, particularly someone who is of a different culture, experiencing a circumstances none of us have experienced, in surroundings that none of us know and in a relationship that no one but they truly knows about. Gross speculation and innuendo is not fact. Unless one intimately and knows the psyche of Reeva Steenkamp or Oscar Pistorius for that matter there is no ability to say what they thought, should have thought or might have thought. South Africans live in a society not even remotely comparable to people in the west.

ozinnz says:

I have to agree with that.. And I don’t think they have proven that OP murdered Reeva with premeditation. I think he will get off although surely he would have to do some sort of sentence. He certainly should never be allowed to have a firearm again. It’s hard to
believe he was able to – or would even want to – buy another gun after the murder when he was on bail.

Dutchie says:

I can’t understand when O.P. approached the bathroom and he shout that she must phone the police…she had her phone with her ..and never make a calll or a noise at that time …..seems odd to me …. when i go to the bathroom at night i don’t take my phone with me at night to the toilet.

Heli says:

You are not Reeva Steenkamp. Surely you aren’t suggesting that all females on earth should have behaviours that conform to yours? Really? lol

cookie says:

If a thief enters a house, in the middle of the night, they are usually quiet. That’s why they sneak around in the dark while people are sleeping.

Karen says:

What was an intruder doing in the bathroom, stealing toilet paper?

cookie says:

If you listen to Oscar, everyone is out to get him.

crystel says:

Correct me if I am hearing the testimony wrong. OP brought in the fan from balcony, but he never went outside; heard a noise in the bathroom; bathroom door slam (not sure how many burglars slam doors).

This means he had to go to the bed to retrieve his gun. Are you telling me that he would not have seen then that Reeva was not in the bed? People do go to the bathroom during the night. My son-in-law (a policeman) told me that if someone is terrified of intruders, they would keep their gun on the nightstand within easy reach – not under a bed which would mean leaning over and exposing themselves to attack while getting the gun. OP’s ex said he kept it on the nightstand.

Seems to me that his defence team watched the OJ trial. Everyone other than OP is lying. The police contaminated and tampered with evidence…on and on. Yes, I guess the police have a personal vendetta against OP. What a crock.

Dutchie says:

I think Mr. Nell is brilliant in driving O.P into his own corner full of lies.
Why is he crying now again because of the difficult questions?
Take your responsebillity for your actions and be a man … !!!

KATHLEEN G says:

Nil is anything but brilliant.

KATHLEEN G says:

Nell

KATHLEEN G says:

Mr Nell turns his back to OP, looks all around the court, poses like an actor playing a role. I think he is horrible!

kumast says:

OP hasn´t looked at Nel once during his testimony. Instead he looks the whole time at the judge.

kathleen ,T says:

gosh Kathleen try and look at the truth and not what you think just because he is good looking and famous

Cynthia Mason says:

Didn’t Oscar have a dog? Remember when he said his dog got in and was knocking down the dining room chairs? This is the first time he heard a noise and got scared some months back. This time the dog would have been inside or outside barking at any intruders. He didn’t have to open the door to see Reeva he could have looked through those four big holes he created when he murdered her. As far as Reeve not flipping on a light to walk down that dark hallway is complete BS. Oscar acts like if he turned on a light he would have reacted like a vampire. I hope when he gets to Prison they keep the light on 24/7.

Heidi says:

OMG! He keeps side stepping the truth. If he has trouble with sleeping with light on, take out the LED light to avoic any light at all. He’s accusing the police of setting him up, yet he never called for either Security or Police when he first noticed she was injured. I feel like he intentionally delayed calling to make sure she had already passed by the time authorities got there then it was too late. I could be wrong.

Heidi says:

I just set up a Twitter Account and don’t know how it works, LOL! There’s no live CHAT today so everyone be patient with me. Thank you! :*

Heidi says:

OK, live chat isn’t working – why?

Heidi says:

Why can I not log on to live CHAT tonight?

Sueb says:

If OP was so afraid of intruders, why would he go to sleep with the window open? And, how could he have heard anything in another room with the fans going? Just a though.

Sueb says:

Just a thought!

Heli says:

Have you watched the testimony? He did not go to sleep with the window open in the bathroom. OP testified that he heard the window being slid open and hit up against the frame at the time he was repositioning the fans.
The fans in OP’s bedroom are relatively small home fans not industrial fans that can be ramped up to very high RPMs thereby creating a significantly loud noise.

Mattypitch says:

True…but we do have common sense and for some that usually makes me skeptical. If I heard a suspicious noise that alarmed me…the first thing I would do is wake my partner. And see if they heard it and/or let her know of my concern and worry. I mean, wouldn’t you also make sure she was in bed and not the potential source of the sound!!! Common sense!

Kelly says:

Oscar’s voice is so blanking annoying! The more he talks the more I can’t stand him!

jacquelineweisser says:

I totally agree. He is so narcissistic it makes me sick…

kc andrews says:

That’s what Pisto said about Revva’s American practise accent and he went on to kill her

ozinnz says:

Agree!!! Sounds like a whining, spoilt little boy.

Cookie says:

Is it just me? Or does Oscar appear to have been practicing his statements? Every time he’s asked questions outside of his rehearsed statements, he gets confused.

Cookie says:

Zulieka Marbella: Oscar will be asked about a lot of items in his home. This way the state can prove nothing was moved. I suspect questions about the fan will continue. Oscar claimed it was in the open window frame. The state is showing he is not being truthful

Cookie says:

oops, I meant fan

Cookie says:

The reason the prosecuter keeps asking about the fa is because Oscar claimed (via his attorneys) that things were moved in the crime scene

Heli says:

What lends credibility to the defence’s assertion that items were moved at the crime scene from photo to photo is that the box of several expensive wrist watches shown in early photos then mysteriously disappeared in later photos and in fact, never reappeared hence one must conclude that someone in the police service stole them as they were the only ones having access to the bedroom for many hours after the incident. All the defence needs to do is show photos of the same area and point out that items are not in the same position from photo to photo. There is no other explanation that they were moved by police.

crystel says:

I see my ex-husband every time I watch OP crying. My ex was controlling; jealous, and abusive (although not all the time). Every time he hurt me physically, he cried – oh how he cried. Begged for forgiveness. And like an idiot i did…too many times.

I do not see OP crying for Reeva. I see him crying for himself. I believe him to be a coward. a bully and a murderer. His ‘tears’ elicit no sympathy from me. My heart goes out to Reeva’s family.

Zulieka Marbella says:

I really don’t think he meant to kill Reeva, and he does’nt deny that he killed her, what he says is he didn’t know she was there, and thats what the Judge has to decide, I don’t think the Judge likes the guy that’s working for the state, not sure, but does’nt look like it to me.
I spent many years as a Nurse in the O.R and have seen many gun shot wounds, and during that time I know that the bullet holes seen in people on the TV are nothing like the real thing, and as I dont think Oscar had shot anyone before, he was shocked and horrified at what he saw when he found Reeva. I just hope that whatever the result is here, I hope its the right and proper one.
I find the fact that there is no Jury in South Africa very strange, living and working in both the USA and the UK both of which have Jury system, I am not fully understanding the system here in SA to me its quite strange, but I am sure it must work otherwise the SA government would change it.
How many times will this guy ask where the damn fan was plugged in, Oscar does’nt bloody well remember, he’s not going to change his mind here, so for Gods sake pack it in with the fans already.

Barbara Neumayr says:

Well looking at the OJ Simpson Trial, I guess having a Jury System does not guarantee anything.

KATHLEEN G says:

not true, the case against OJ was not legally proved. If he did it , prosecution could not and did not prove it. The jury system did work!

Barbara Neumayr says:

… to the Plug – all he had to do is answer yes or no – to most of the questions – and he is whailing around. The witnesses Mr. Roux was questioning had to answer with yes or no – he was hard on them. Why can OP not give short answers.

tabitha says:

Totally agree — if he’s going to nitpick every single detail it’s only going to turn off the judge and everyone else. Get on with it!!!!!! I agree that I don’t think it was premeditated. His demeanor, words, body language, everything adds up towards him telling the truth. His family is distraught. I also believe Reeva’s family is feeling sorry for him too as time goes on. At least I hope so. What a tragedy either way.

jacquelineweisser says:

dead wrong tabitha…The Steenkamps do NOT feel sorry for him. They consider him the devil. He is lying through his half smirk. He fought with Reeva…she fled to the bathroom and he shot her in a fit of jealous rage. It happens all the time! He is a gun freak and extremely jealous person with vast insecurities. I pray that justice is done here and he sits in the pokey for a quarter century.

KATHLEEN G says:

I agree that OP did not know Reeva was in the toilet when he shot. It was not intentional that Reeva was killed. I also think that prosecuter is hell bent that OP is lying to the point that he is ridiculous. I cannot stand the prosecuter! Trials are for truth not to try and make the accused out to be a liar so you can win the case!

Peter says:

Two people in the house alone, in love. Why would you go to the toilet, and lock the door, Makes no sense, it does makes sense if one feels threatened.

Dutchie says:

Reeva was not the one that locked herself up at the toiletdoor because the key was on the outside of the toiletdoor(evidence on picture finding under my comment in archive) .My opinion is that oscar locked her up before shooting her…

Dutchie says:

sorry at was at the toilet.

TrudyLynn says:

No the key was not, if I remember correctly he said when he broke the panel on the door out he was able to reach the key to open the door

TrudyLynn says:

it does if she is bulimic and doesn’t want him to walk in on her while she is vomiting. Been there done that, remember in one of her emails she mentioned not feeling very good about her body image at the time.

Laurie says:

Trudy, IMO she wouldn’t take her phone w/her to vomit and she would’ve done that earlier in the evening, soon after the meal, when he was sleeping, not 3am. I’m not saying she was or wasn’t bulimic. Not arguing..it’s just my opinion :-)

Julia says:

bingo……this story is a fabrication. Who would lock them-self in the bathroom at your supposed “boyfriends” house at 2am? with your cell phone? Nothing makes sense
I have no sympathy for this person…he is just remorseful for the loss of HIS big deal life and IMAGE. He’s a narcissist …they never take any responsibility
He is denying the shooting out of the car roof, he today said when caught in yet another “discrepancy” that his lawyer made a mistake. couldn’t even say “I killed her” typical narcissist

Don says:

Has anyone heard of somebody breaking into a second floor apartment to go to the toilet?

Julia says:

right…..what “intruder” would lock themselves in the bathroom with no way out?
He also said he heard the bathroom door slam…who slams a bathroom door at 2am?
and we know it was Reeva so why did she feel the need to slam the door and lock it? hummmm

ozinnz says:

She may have heard OP screaming out, so she locked the door thinking intruders had entered somewhere else in the house. The reason she may have been near the door when she was shot could be because she was trying to hear what was happening. She wouldn’t have called out to tell OP she was in the room because she didn’t know what was happening in the other rooms. She obviously didn’t try to call anyone – police or help of some kind, when she was in the toilet.

carolyn says:

I believe he will get the culpitory homicide and serve no sentence

Julie says:

He has such a boring tone of voice and he is plying the victim already. Is sickening

Ruth Keller says:

I hope he is found guilty and spends the rest of his life behind bars!!

chloe says:

Court adjourned until 4/7.

jeanie says:

hi Chloe, is the trial not on today???

arosete says:

The State rested on day 14 (Tuesday) and there hasnt been testimony since. It resumes Friday at 3:30 am (so that will be day 15).

Linn The Finn says:

Pistorius Prosecution agrees that defence can call its independent pathologist ahead of Pistorius if it wants to when trial resumes 7/4…..Sky News…(Law is that the accused is supposed to be the first witness is they take the stand…..)

Cheryl says:

Wondering the same thing???

Carolyn says:

I dont understand why people do not realize South Africa has a different judicial system than we do here in the US! There is high crime (not gangs just people breaking and entering) in the area they lived, it is reasonable Pistorius was just a gun happy person and he did have fears as a man who doesnt have legs to have “reasonable fear” of an intruder. Lastly, there is a case prsecedent where a man shot and killed his daughter when he shot at her car thinking it was being stolen. He was found guilty of culpable homicide and basically told to go home and try to live with what he had done!

Sandy Metter says:

Did he not have a burglar alarm in his house since he was so frightened?

Julia says:

Why is this judge not reprimanding or taking control of this pathetic drama display??
And why isn’t any papers or reporters writing about it???
This is disgraceful
Oscar cry’s boo hoo and we adjourn…WOW
He brutally killed this women and we are supposed to what…feel sorry for him?
pathetic

Julia says:

yes he does have an alarm..and a panic button in the complex
someone commented on that…they said why didn’t he push the button

jessie says:

These people calling that poor girl names are vile there is really no need, do urselfs a favour and grow up. Oscar is 100 % guilty in my eyes after the evidence heard in court, seams he was or is a jealous little boy who also should have grown up along time ago and maybe wouldn’t be in the position he is now. I really wanted him to be innocent but it doesn’t seam so. Lets see wot the defence brings in this coming week.

Lara says:

I agree Jessie. He is 100% guilty. His defense team are doing him no favours. The longer they try to pick away at the witnesses the more you can see they’re clutching at straws as they have no defense. How can anyone say that about Reeva being a slut. Even if she was what gives someone the right to murder them whether it be the Spoilt, bigheaded, bad tempered, possessive git Pistorius or not. Lock him up and throw away the keys. Your boaking and crying is too late you will not get the sympathy vote.

dawood says:

go oscar can tell the judge likes the defence and thank god it was great to speak to him in london 2012 really nice guy. reeva looks like a cheap tart to me anyway.

Zulieka says:

I think to call Reeva a cheap tart is cruel to say the least, whatever she was or wasn’t does not alter the fact that she is dead, and that in itself is sad.
I always thought OJ Simpson was innocent too, but when you look at the evidence, it’s pretty bloody obvious he wasn’t, so let’s wait and see what the Judge thinks.
I do however think that it’s strange not having a Jury, they have them in the USA the UK and here in Spain where I live, I do find that strange but it must work for the South Africans, mind you I think that should change for the Jury system.

Dee says:

Dawood, You are a sick idiot!!

DAWOOD says:

really? i met oscar talked to him for an hour or so, i found him 2 b a nice chap. i dont think he did this intentionally. and if a women is a tart who really cares anyway? good riddance i say, well done OP mate.

Lee says:

What an absolute tool you are.

jacquelineweisser says:

You are so rude. How do you think her mother feels seeing your hurtful words judging her precious deceased daughter? Reeva was by no means a TART! You must have been dumped in the past by someone who was a hot as Reeva to be so judgmental….for the record. Just because a woman is stunning does not make her cheap…Good riddance is what you say about her death just because you met this small minded loser? I hope you can visit him in the pokey! He needs all the pity he can get! HE IS A MURDERER!!!

Maria says:

Do you know Reeva and her family have you been out with her. Or does Oscar kiss and tell.
I do not see that the judge likes the defence at all quite the contrary.

Julie says:

You are digusting to say the least, this is the way Pistorious think, and that is why he killed her, but even if he thought it was an intruder, of course and intruder that came in through a window on a second floor, it most it been superman, but even if that was true, he is still a reckless caward to shut at a close door instead of calling the police, coward to the end

kahlenn says:

he is guilty

kathleen says:

GUILTY GUILTY

Maggie says:

Dawood: Are you sure you’re not just a star-struck idiot? Were you one of those idiots who were standing on the overpass cheering OJ Simpson on after he butchered two people and then tried to escape? Yeah, I thought so…

Irene Ojay Shew says:

Dawood – you are so shallow! Of course he is going to be on his nicest – he is so concern with his image! Just cos someone comes across as nice doesn’t mean he or she is. Liars, murderers, cheats, etc. all comes across as nice!

Lara says:

Grow up

Lara says:

GROW UP DAGWOOD

Anton says:

Even a cheap tart has the right to live? See you sound like a heartless person to me, and yet, you also have the right to live

jessie says:

Hi folks, been following the trial since day 1 very interesting indeed. I think Oscar is guilty but im sure he will get found guilty of culpable homicide, or at least guilty of the other charges, firing his gun out the sunroof of his car and possession of black talon bullets.

Julie says:

I thought it was an accident, but after today, knowing that she was standing and covering from the shots, I am back to believe they were arguing and she hide in the bathroom and lock the door, that made him really mad and he shot her with the intention to kill her. Premeditared murder is back on the table for me. I hope he goes to jail for at least 25 years, keeping my fingers cross because I am not trusting this judge.

DAWOOD says:

i love this judge she is going to let him go even though its obvious he did it

julia says:

Dogwood you are a vile man

Julie says:

This site is strange, when people are really exited about a trial, boom they stop streaming it, or putting it in the archive, they did the same with Amanda Hayes trial, in day 12, they stop even talking about it, what happened today with the Pistorious trial? Anybody knows or care to answer

julie says:

It is totally different time zone then us so if its not on its in the archive. I think it starts at 4am our time.

Maggie says:

Julie: I am on the west coast of US and here the trial starts at 12:30 AM; it was on tonight and just adjourned.

Ian P says:

The fact that the photos taken by two seperate officers show coinsiding Metadata could be a coincidence or even staged. The metadata stored and digitally attached to every photo taken with a digital camera relies on the Date and Time settings of each individual camera being set accuratly. Two photos taken 2 mins apart on two different cameras ( In real time ) will show the same time on their metadata if the clock on the first camera is 2 mins slow. By setting the date and time on my own camera to 14/02/2013 and time to 06.00 hrs i have just taken a photo of my wife. the metadata says that it was taken at the same time as Oscar was sealing his fate. This throws all photo timeline evidence into question. Comments please!!!

Robert Turner says:

I agree – the metadata will rely on the camera’s time being set correctly, so you cannot be sure that the photos from two different cameras were taken at the same time unless you are able to prove the time was correct on both cameras. But consider this for a second – presumably the police photographer knows this, so why hasn’t he pointed it out when he was under pressure to prove that nobody else was in the room with him. It would be simple for him to say maybe the cameras had different times set on them. Is he worried that if he said that then it would cast doubt on when any of the photos were taken – and presumably raise the question of whether it would have also have been possible to take a photo, change the clock, take another photo, then change the clock back to make it appear that photos were taken at times different than they actually were. Perhaps even take photos and make them appear as if they had been taken the previous day.

Ian P says:

Hi Robert. Wasn’t sure if anyone would understand the point I was trying to make. Dont think I explained myself very well. Glad you understood me. Further to the comments you made in your reply, I agree the police photographer must be aware of the possible problem with the metadata. I think , as you suggest that he has been instructed not to bring it into question !! In my opinion the judge doesn’t seem to be switched on to what is happening in front of her in her own courtroom. If she was made aware of the situation that we have discussed she would have to discount all photographs that had any form of timescale relevance. Where on earth would that leave the Prosecution / Defence’s case?????.. On a less serious note have you heard the ” Barry Roux Rap ” on Utube ??? . Nice to know the world hasn’t totally lost it’s sense of humor!!! Take care all. TTFN.

Julie says:

Even if the police change things around or even planted evidence, that does not change the facts, this is just the defence trying to plant the seed of corruption and take people’s attention from the real facts. He shot this woman as a coward, across a close door, the only other thing we need to know is if Reba was going to leave him. HE KILLED HER so no matter what, he should pay for it, with more or less years in prision, but he needs to spend time away and hopefully not be able to ever ever carry a gun again.

Peter says:

The police photographer seems to have a bad memory on who, and whom where there at the crime scene, when he was. He testified that he was alone upstairs taking his photos. The fact that another office has pictures, of the same crime scene and at the same times as he does, is concerning to say the least.

KATHLEEN says:

I do not believe that Pistorius is guilty of pre-meditated murder.

Amanda says:

I do not believe it was pre meditated neither. So sad for all involved. It’s ibvious he is distraught

Maggie says:

Amanda, do you really believe he didn’t know Reeva was not in the bed? Oscar’s ex-gf testified that it was normally not pitch-black in the bedroom; my husband and I used to have blackout curtains in our bedroom but it was never so dark that I couldn’t tell whether or not he was in bed.

zoelle says:

me neither. personal opinion:
his reactions would be different.
also, the forensics pretty much confirm what he said.
he was reckless , and too fast with guns.
this time, his famed speed was Reevas and his demise .

een says:

what about his girlfriends screams that is why he is guilty ,nothing like the father who killed his child

kathleen says:

is guilty the screams from his girlfriend should have stopped him if he thought it was some intruder , hope he is put in jail for a log time just because he is well known shouldn’t stop justices

Julie says:

I see the judge liking the defense team a lot, she is not as nice with the prosecutor. I don’t like it

DAWOOD says:

i love it gooooo oscar – its so obvious. when there is danger the first thing you do is wake up your partner, you do that for a few reasons. 1st so she can protect herself, 2nd so she can back you up, 3rd so she can phone the police or shout for help. ive been in a similar situation where a burglar tried getting in, i woke my partner straight away before dealing with the burglar so i could hit him and she could phone police. oscar would have woken reeva, but she was not in bed, so he would have then known she was in the house, whre would she be at night??? kitchen or bathroom would be my 2 guesses. he knew what was going on. i think she cheated on him and he got mad and shot her. and now he is sooo guilty and upset by what has happened he is literally sick with guilt into a bucket. but it doesnt matter, he got mad and made a mistake by losing his temper with her, go oscar mate i pray u get off because i know u really regret what u did and im sure she drove u 2 it by cheating. i know u r guilty i have no doubt she screamed and u both argued but i hope u learn ur leason from now on dont date any cheap cheating tarts – choose a decent women who can keep her legs closed. take care Oscar top lad.

Peter says:

Police, unaware of window in the toilet “really”

Alconcalcia says:

If he gets off due to police incompetence it will be a huge miscarriage if justice and an insult to that poor woman he killed

Ken Riley says:

You are so right if he gets off it will be so wrong, A person like Oscar should never be allowed to have a weapon as he clearly knows nothing about gun safety, He intended to kill, he must not come with this pity me sh*t. If he does get off we must make sure that any sponsor that picks him and supports him to know that we will not support them, Need to tell the world. If courts do not punish him then we must. Rest in peace Reeva.

DAWOOD says:

i hope so dumb police -

Jams says:

@Carolyn calm lol

Carolyn says:

I do not understand why people remark about the Judge or courtroom tactics! The US court room rules do not apply for the millionth time! There is a case precedent in Prestoria whereby a man thought his daughter’s car was being stolen and without being able to see in the car he opened fire on the car …shot and killed his daughter. He was only found guillty of negligent homicide and sentenced to suffer at home with the loss of his daughter. He was not famous and he had legs. This country seems to have more lenient gun control laws as signs are posted everywhere about security and gun free zones etc

Akhenatreon says:

Do we need to hear the beeeeeep ???

Someone says:

I agree judge not doing her job correclty she just there for the show

Carolyn says:

Carolyn says: This is a trial in ANOTHER COUNTRY. US rules do NOT apply. They must address the female Judge as “My Lady” and there is a case prcedent to this one where a man shot at his daughters car bc he thought it was being stolen and subsequently killed his daughter! The man was found guilty of negligent homicide and the Judge sentenced him to go home and live with the forever punishment that he killed his daughter. I believe due to what we call here “mitigating factors” Mr Pistorious will be found guilty but serve the same sentence as case precedent!

RainBo7 says:

How can you even compare these 2 cases one was a father shooting his own child unknowingly, OP knew he wasn’t alone in the house why did he not check to see if she had gotten up or even if she was safe . She locked herself in that bathroom for a reason and a father mistaking his daughter as her car thief is way different than this careless, reckless, immature ass who I believe was jealous and was getting ready to be dumped. He has a girlfriend again all ready so tell me how can you compare the two incidents?

Ablestreet says:

How the hell would you know? Have you studied law in South Africa?

Simone says:

I’ve got the underlying feeling he is guilty

G G says:

The defence dont seem to have properly considered their cross-examination in advance bearing in mind their measuring the dimensions of the door after the General gave his evidence-in-chief. They are giving me the impression of a general lack of preparation

IAM8675309 says:

Cute courtroom artist behind the witness

London says:

Why does the witness have to stand? And I don’t understand why Roux would want him to re-enact OP by kneeling. We all know OP has had years of balancing on his stumps. I don’t know how the defense is getting away with this nonsense.

Maria says:

Oscar’s Affidavit is inconsistant. says the bedroom was pitch black he made his way to the bathroom he must have night vision, he says his eyes had come accustomed because he had only just woken up . He with absolute terror goes into the bathroom and says that felt trapped and could not go back to the bedroom because the DOOR was SHUT yet after shooting he ran out through the bedroom to shout from the balcony? I strongly feel that Reeva must have seen him with the gun from the toilet, that is why her scream sounded blood curdling to witness. If she had not seen the gun she would have been in shock as she would not have expected the bullets COMING through the door to be killed. Seeing him with the gun she then knew she was trapped with nowhere to go. Her screams were the screams of no hope left.

ccc says:

I hope if he walks free he gets a heavy fine to pay compensation to the parents of the poor girl

Carolyn says:

Julie says:

Wow I agree 100% with this comment, thank you for all this information. He is going to walk, is not what I want, but I think he will

Julie says:

I was replying to Carolyn comment about the other case with the man killing his daughter, excellent info, thank you and I agree

sabrainc says:

Yes your right! My sisters best friend was living in another country a local boy drowned in her pool the gate was not secure.
They removed the boy no police no investigation.
They moved never to be welcome back.
It was like there was an air of evil surrounding them.
Other countries believe your actions have their own natural consequences.

Someone says:

Here in South Africa is the trial

Paula says:

Clocks run differently. At work, I have different times in my PC (a network PC connected to an in-house server), on my telephone (connected to an in-house server, the telephone lines) and the central door locking system (also computer controlled) all have different times, a difference of 2 – 3 minutes easily. Just saying. Logs on PCs about clocking guard posts and telephone records can be incongruent. Even if they are all computer connected.

Cookie says:

The ex-girlfriend testified that Pistorius had problems with balance when walking on his stumps. Yet, it was put into evidence that he was taking fans in from the porch when he heard a noise. he got his gun (without alerting his girlfriend) and walked to the bathroom and shot the door. How did Pistorius balance himself and take in fans???? He was not wearing his legs. Wouldn’t lifting fans without his legs on cause him to fall?

Philip says:

The balance issue is when standing, not walking. Which is the same as a bicycle when you move balance is easier than in a stationed position.

Carolyn says:

In a documentary it was established he could run on his leg stumps and injured his knee while doing so. The doc title is “Fastest Man without legs” on youtube

Carolyn says:

PS he played Rugby before he became a Sprinter. He was in training for Rugby when he switched to running. The documentary shows from baby to child to teen to athlete runner prior to 2012 and the political scrutiny he faced about his blades and even the time he was denied to run in Beijing when the powers that be stated he had an ADVANTAGE bc of his prosthesis!

Carolyn says:

No! He can run and play Rugby on his leg stumps

happieecat says:

Ive been wondering how carried in the fans as well…

Cookie says:

If you think of it, it’s normal for a person to wake their partner if they heard a noise. It’s human nature. So what was so different the night in question? Why didn’t Pistorius wake his girlfriend? Is it because he knew she wasn’t in the bed? His ex-girlfriend testified he would always wake her if he heard a noise in the house. Think about it.

Philip says:

He could not wake her up, cause she was already awake running to the bathroom and locked the door.

sabrainc says:

Exactly

DAWOOD says:

cookie ive been in OP situation before and i can tell u ur first action is to wake ur partner – i have no doubt he would have woken reeva if he was telling the truth. so u decide based on that info whats true ! its human nature to wake ur partner so she can protect herself and also u n get help. its just automatic its natural.

Cookie says:

The most important info came from the ex-girlfriend. Pistorius always woke her when he heard a noise in the past. Yet, he didn’t try to wake the victum when he thought someone was breaking into the house. Instead, Pistorius went to the bathroom and shot the door.

Paula says:

Why was Dr Stipp not asked what Reeva was wearing? I thought that was a major point, that she was in streetclothes. This bothers me. Why was he not asked if he saw any ladder at the side of the house, where the imagined burglar came in?
Why is so much speculation allowed in a South African court? Always or just with this judge?

Amanda says:

This was all introduced in the bail hearing.

Paula says:

Oscar went up, he might have opened/closed any window then. When did he get dressed and put on his legs? How long does that take? Before he used the bat on the door obviously. Why oh why did he not call an ambulance? What country is that that you call security and they appear with wife and child and the wife of the guard says ‘I hope this doesn’t get out to the papers’ – how detached from reality can you be?
Yesterday Roux said the decibel shows that Oscar screaming can sound like a woman, but decibel only shows loudness, not pitch. He is lying while he speaks all the time (‘I’m not questioning your statement, you’re a radiologist (???),… I am trying to understand….’) Every ‘let me put to you’ is making me more aggressive, lol. I know he is doing his job, but he could do it more respectfully, especially in a court of law, and the judge could make him imo.

Piet says:

The DA says it was Oscar screaming like a female and the shots that witnesses heard were in fact a cricket bat breaking down a door. Why did Oscar stop shouting after the door was broken down? One would expect him to shout even louder after he discovered the victim’s injuries. So after breaking down the door, not a sound of any kind to be heard?

Maria says:

When a neighbour a woman was asked a question about the screaming , she said that it had woken her up and she asked her husband what was that, and he said it is Oscar. Does this mean that Oscar usually screams though the nights. if so why.

Another point. after realizing he shot Reeva he rings security, asks him to call Ambulance and Oscar rings Netcare I think but he rang some one else. He then went down stairs to open the door for the ambulance. He returned to pick Reeva up and carried her down stairs to take her to the hospital AS SOMEONE HAD TOLD HIM NOT TO WAIT FOR THE AMBULANCE, Who was it he spoke to. Does not add up.

Dee- Ontario,Canada says:

I was thinking about the husband’s testimony saying that he heard 5-6 shots ….
Could it be that since he was on the balcony and wife inside in bed that the 2 extra “shots he heard could have been the sound of “cricket bat” on the door?
I am surprised that the lawyer has not come up with that theory as of yet !
just my opinion:)

julieK says:

They cross examined him and the attorney brought that up

Cliff_Forrest@telus.net says:

Doesn’t it seem more than a little strange that a guy would break into a house with people in it but the very first thing he does is use the bathroom? Maybe, the noise Oscar heard was the guy rummaging thru the cupboards looking for a moisturizer.

PTNY says:

It was believed an intruder entered the home thru the bathroom toilet window where carpenters had left a ladder leading up to.

sabrainc says:

Your funny.

Chantal says:

What I don’t understand is when you clearly heard gun shots and someone creaming for help! after they called security and it was the wrong number they just gave up – went back to bed and slept until the next morning ????wow great effort !

Piet says:

The question I was waiting for to be put to the 1st witness was: If she did not have the correct number of her complex’s security and she was so sure that she heard blood curdling screams from a female and four shots with last scream fading after last shot, why did she and/or her husband not go to their own complex’s security office to get them to notify the neighboring complex’s security to investigate. The office should be at their complex’s main gate and thereafter they could have gone back to bed. Is it normal behavior to make one incorrect call and nothing more?

Me says:

For anyone who wants to find out American counterparts of the South African Pistorius trial IN PART (read those two words carefully), you might want to download the VINE app & follow the “vinnyvine” (Vinny Politan). As long as you don’t ask any questions and just read the posts, it might be helpful.

Me says:

For those of you who have questions about the trial (other than where to find things and links), you must look them up yourself. I have some very, very basic questions that no one can answer. I see lots of questions here and no answers, LOL!

jeanie says:

hi, are they done for today??

Me says:

Curious about why prosecutor does not object to anything….. Wondering why DA is allowed to be (for lack of a better term) “rude” to witnesses… I guess I’ll never find out. people are invited to post questions on media sites but are not answered (even though it was 3:30 AM ET/media already tweeting)… Perhaps not enough legal eagles out there

Glyn Wilson says:

The point is to make the witnesses uncomfortable to 1.see if they are telling the truth and 2.to make them uncomfortable so they contradict

KATHLEEN says:

Good morning, 4:45 am here. (Tx)

lena says:

court stopped because they have been televising the witness and they have to investigate this, it is against the agreement they had with the witness

Anton Lavelle says:

Defense feels this witness is crucial! Because he’s spending a lot of time with her; trying to trip her up . how long can she hold on?

Me says:

I hope you get an answer for that question because I thought so too and I never got an answer, LOL

Anton Lavelle says:

Defense makes speeches instead of questions !!

Me says:

Good luck trying to find out why the DA can get away with his line of questioning because I never got an answer for that one

Piet says:

Apparently it is the norm for witnesses to be grilled in that fashion especially by a Senior Advocate and listening to comments by South African legal experts, they find the DA’s performance top notch.

Wow, the judge seems to be a total “passenger”, she exerts NO CONTROL of the courtroom. She allows the defense to badger the witness, trying to get the answer out of her that HE wants! She should have intervened “asked & answered” in many cases (or the prosecutor should have). I like the first witness, she overcame her initial underconfidence by realising that her English is much better than the translated product the interpreter was providing. In fact, the interpreter was HINDERING the questioning rather than helping; she is also proving to be a steadfast and firm witness and is standing up well to the defense attorney’s strange ways of trying to manipulate her into saying something that HE wants!

Susan says:

Scarlet, there is no jury trials in South Africa. Trials are decided by judge and two advisers.

Susan says:

I think he is guilty, his story just does not make sense. Too many unanswered questions!! Who in a loving relationship locks the bathroom door in the middle of the night? Hopefully those answers will be forthcoming over the next few weeks. Think on todays performance the case will last longer than the three weeks expected. The defence lawyer has as good as said the first witness is lying about what she has said. You would think its her on trial!!!

Andrew in London says:

TrudyLynn says:

Having struggled myself with bulimia as a means of dieting, my experience is that would be about the time of night I would find myself in the furthest bathroom from the bedroom, with the door locked so if someone did hear me they couldn’t just walk in. So it is possible as a model she could have been bulimic and got up to vomit, she most likely would have locked the door so he could not just walk in on her and see this. Since bulimia is a well established problem for women, especially models to maintain their edge, this is a real possibility.

Piet says:

Hi TrudyLynn, this is the first plausible explanation I’ve heard for a locked door at that time of night.

Louise says:

Trudy, as much as this could be a possibility it has now come to light that Reeva still had food still in her stomach when examined. With that in mind it’s pretty unlikely that throwing up was he case…Even locking a door wouldn’t make a difference to being heard anyway. The locked door plays a huge factor for me!

thanks for posting this trial. Would like to know if there is a jury….how many members on the jury…..will they not show the witnesses.
