Plea deal withdrawn for Travis Funke
Facing criticism from the family of the alleged victim, prosecutors have withdrawn the plea they previously offered to Travis Funke.
The original plea agreement proposed by the prosecutor was for Funke to plead guilty to voluntary manslaughter and to serve 35 years in custody for the alleged killing of Kelly Armstrong. When Armstrong’s family learned that Funke’s family would have custody over the young son of Funke and Armstrong, they were outraged and demanded a new disposition. Now Funke’s attorneys will be working with the Howard County Prosecutor’s office on a new deal for Funke. If they cannot reach a decision, the case will proceed to trial.
