Renisha McBride Murder: Timeline of Events
Nov. 2, 2013 – Renisha McBride is shot and killed by Theodore Paul Wafer on the front porch of his house.
Just before 1:00 a.m. – A witness called 911 to say a woman was speeding down the street in the area of Bramell and Majestic, hit a parked vehicle, got out of her car and left.
A second 911 call is made which reveals that McBride returned to the scene of the car accident, but she is gone when police arrive at the scene.
[Time Gap] – McBride’s whereabouts during this time are unclear.
Approximately 3:40 a.m. – According to police, McBride was shot while standing on the porch of the home on West Outer Drive
4:42 a.m. – Wafer calls 911 to report that he shot someone on his porch with a shotgun.
Nov. 15, 2013 – Wafer was arraigned in Dearborn Heights’ 20th District Court on second-degree murder, manslaughter, and felony firearm charges. Judge Mark J. Plawecki set Wafer’s bail at $250,000.
December 19, 2013 – After several days of testimony at a preliminary hearing, Michigan judge David Turfe determines that Theodore Paul Wafer must stand trial for murder in the November 2 shooting death of Renisha McBride.
“The prosecutor has met their burden by probable cause that a crime was committed and probable cause that the defendant committed the crime of second degree murder and manslaughter,” said Judge David Turf. “Now, though this is a different burden in this preliminary examination, the results could be different at trial.”
January 15, 2014 – Wafer pleaded not guilty at his arraignment to second-degree murder charges. Trial date is set for June 2.
June 2, 2014 – Anticipated Trial Date.
