Soccer Mom Madam may plead guilty
Anna Gristina, the accused Soccer Mom Madam, is meeting with prosecutors today to discuss a guilty plea to the one count of promoting prostitution Tuesday.
Officials are reporting that there is technically no “plea deal” but that if she pleads guilty to the standing charge she will receive minimal jail time or time served.
“I’m going in to listen to what they have to say, but I haven’t made up my mind. It will depend on the terms, and what, if anymore jail time they are asking for,” Gristina reportedly told The New York Post. “I’ll listen, but I am not going to go against my gut. I am still prepared to go to trial and that could be what I decide to do.”
Gristina is currently set for trial in October and if convicted may receive up to seven years in prison. Until now she has maintained that she only ran a high end matchmaking service.
However, prosecutors say she was also the madam of a multi-million dollar prostitution service.
Gristina is currently out on bail after an appeals court on June 12 held that the initial $2 million bail was “unreasonable and an abuse of discretion” and lowered it to $250,000.
