George Zimmerman

Zimmerman still has a gun, pulled over for speeding in Texas

George Zimmerman during hearing June 6, 2013. Pool camera stillAccording to a TMZ report, George Zimmerman was pulled over for speeding in Forney, Texas on Sunday and revealed to the police officers that he had a gun in his glove compartment.

Zimmerman received only a warning after the officers determined he had no outstanding warrants and was sent on his way. When asked where he was going, Zimmerman reportedly responded “nowhere in particular.”

George Zimmerman was acquitted July 13 of all charges, including second-degree murder, in the shooting death of 17-year-old African American Trayvon Martin. The delayed arrest and subsequent trial and acquittal drew significant national coverage and initiated a nationwide dialogue on the current state of race relations in America.

Zimmerman has received numerous threats since his acquittal, and even his brother said that the former neighborhood watch volunteer will have to look over his shoulder the rest of his life.
